The first link is to an article about work in the genetics of language, among others the FOXP2 gene. The main impression I got from that article was: it’s still early days.
The second one is about inflation and the swampland of string theory. It reports on a preprint on arXiv. The claim, as far as I understand it, is that those models of inflation still allowed by current data are in the swampland, i.e. those theories that are effective on low energy scales but are not consistent with quantum gravity theories.
